Grand Prairie Celebrates National Dog Day
From Prairie Paws adoptions to beloved family pets, our city’s pups take center stage in a day full of wagging tails and local love.
Yesterday brought a string of fun pooch pics for National Dog Day, so I thought I’d share a little piece of my own story.
First up is my sweet girl Bailey, who I adopted from our beloved Prairie Paws in January 2024. After my sweet Bella passed away in November 2023, I swore I’d never get another black lab—it just felt too sad. But one day I felt drawn to the shelter, and there sat Bailey, waiting for me.
The funny part? My daughter had actually been at the shelter the day before with her dad. She snapped the picture you see on the left but hadn’t sent it to me yet. I ended up adopting Bailey that very next day, before I even knew she had taken that photo. Talk about meant to be.
We’re now going on two years together, and I can honestly say she was exactly what my heart needed. 💛
Now it’s your turn—do you see your pup in yesterday’s photos? Share your own Prairie Paws adoption stories in the comment section below or any fun pup memories of your four-legged family members in the comments. Let’s celebrate our Grand Prairie dogs together! 🐶
